I’m just back from a trip to Amboseli National Park in Kenya, which is an amzing and beutiful place. On the way from Namanga, on the border bewteen Kenya and Tanzania, our safiri began when we spotted a lesser Kudu. It was perfectly camouflaged against a tree, and was an amzing spot by Isaac. We watched him for a bit before he left and we made our way into the park. From there we saw the swirls of dust like mini tornadoes around an amazing mirage that looked like Ambioseli had a huge lake when in fact it was almost as barren as as desert.
As we moved further into the park we came to marhses and watched two secretary birds chasing each other with elephants eating in the marshes behind them and hippos lying on the edges iof the marsh.
We also managed to see some lions mating, a golden jackal searching for birds eggs and a bat eared fox seeking cover in a bush. I will try to upload pictures, but at the moment am having problems doing so.
For the night we stayed in a community camp that was quite cheap and nice enough, with good food, and we were given a treat in the morning when we woke up and saw an elephant in the camp with us.
Amboseli is a beautiful place, and a land of amazing contrast. If you want to see elephants it is the perfect lace to go, and really if you are going on safari in Kenya I would strongly recommend going. In 24 hours we saw over 40 species of bird and 22 mammals, some of which are very rare.
